Disco Dancing
The word Disco originated in the big band era with the radio DJ’s. The DJ’s eventually got into the nightclubs and started the disco trend using records rather than live bands. This was much cheaper for the club owners than hiring the bands. By 1978 the disco scene reached its peak after the release of “Saturday Night Fever” with John Travolta and the introduction of the “World Disco Dance Championship”.
