Ballroom
Dances are elegant and graceful, and travel around the dancefloor. The five dances in this category are:

The waltz - is a slow ballroom dance with three beats in each bar of music. This is an English dance full of elegance and grace, where experienced dancers appear to glide effortlessly around the dancefloor. It is also a great social dance, being satisfying to learn, and enjoyable to dance. For all those hopeless romantics out there (there must still be some), this is certainly the dance for you...

The quickstep - is one of the fastest ballroom dances, with a quick four-count. It progresses around the room at an alarming rate, and is therefore not a dance for the faint-hearted! While the basic steps are fairly benign and straightforward to dance, you'll soon find yourself either hopping, skipping, or just sprinting along! When danced by professionals, this dance is simply breathtaking, but don't worry: as a social dance, it's just relaxing and fun.

The Foxtrot - is a slow ballroom dance with four counts in each bar of music. While Slow Foxtrot is often considered to be the most technically difficult of the ballroom dances, its "social" version is quite accessible to all who enjoy the relaxed, smokey-bar pace of the music. This is a dance which, when perfected, is unrivalled in it's fluidity and elegance.

Tango - is a fiery dance of passion, which differs considerably in style from the grace and elegance of the other ballroom dances. Full of abrupt and almost aggressive movements, this dance really should require a rose between the teeth (thorns and all), although it is rarely done! There is also another more fluid version of the Tango, the Argentinian Tango.

Viennesse waltz - is like a vertigo-inducing version of the English waltz. For a start, it goes at twice the speed and the dancers spin around the floor like mini tornados! In fact, this dance is very popular on the continent since it is a great deal of fun to do, and looks amazing when many couples dance it at the same time. It is possibly the stereotype of ballroom dancing.
